The Return of The Aquabats
The Return of the Aquabats is the debut full-length album from American band The Aquabats, released independently in 1996 on the band's self-operated record label, Horchata Records.
Overview
The Return... is arguably the Aquabats' most overtly ska-based recording, featuring few of the New Wave or pop punk elements that would become an integral part of the band's sound on later releases. This would also be the only studio album to feature The Aquabats' original line up: lead guitarist Ben the Brain, keyboardist Nacho, and drummer Roddy B. would leave the group before their sophomore release.
The song "Idiot Box" was originally written by GOGO13, a St. George, Utah ska band featuring Christian Jacobs' brother and future Aquabat member Parker Jacobs and guitarist Ben Bergeson. "Idiot Box", along with "Playdough" and "Martian Girl", were re-recorded for the Aquabats' subsequent album The Fury of the Aquabats!.
